Through its partnership with KCEF, Blessed Children’s Centre (BCC) has been able to move out of its crowded, noisy, dusty (dirt floor) one-room space in a slum church into a humble building of 7 classrooms grade2 through 8th grade students and a separate building for pre-K and grade 1 to house a total of 270 students.
The addition of flushing toilets and electricity improved school life dramatically. A nutritious lunch is served daily to all students. BCC serves the poorest of the poor living in the southern part of the Kibera slum, one of Africa’s largest slums.
For children living in a predatory environment, BCC offers recreational outlet for students through boys and girls soccer teams. Both teams have done well and the girls were champions of the local school conference.
BCC is designated as an Alternative Basic Education School by the Ministry of Education.
Several graduates from BCC are on secondary school scholarships through KCEF sponsorship.
