Schools

KCEF partners with primary schools (Pre-K through 8th grade) in the slums of Nairobi and the surrounding region to strengthen their academic and feeding programs.

  • Gentle Bells School, KCEF’s first Kenyan partner school, serves 57-72220 students in the Longonot community in the Rift Valley 30 miles northwest of Nairobi. Esther Waweru is the founder and head of the school.
  • Gospel Victory Academy in the heart of the Mathare slum, Nairobi’s second largest slum, serves 200 students. Pastor Jennifer Jomo is founder and head of school.
  • Karem School serves 250 students on the eastern edge of Nairobi. Irene Waweru is the founder and head of the school.
  • KICOSHEP (Kibera Integrated Community Self-Help Programme) School serves 350 students in the Northern section of Kibera. The Reverend Anne Owiti is founder and head of the school and clinic.
  • Mawewa School serves 250 students in the Mathare Valley, the second largest slum in Nairobi. Founders are Pastor Bob Kikuyu and American Adam Gould.  Michael Maingi is the head teacher.
  • Blessed Children’s Centre serves 225 students in southern Kibera, Nairobi’s largest slum, with an estimated population of 800,000 in an area the size of Central Park.  Seline Munyasa is the founder and head of the school.
  • Penuel Transforming is comprised of four churches in the Garissa Road slum in the city of Thika, 15 miles northeast of Nairobi. Through a variety of programs in the community and in two public and two private schools, they work together to improve the lives of over 400 street children living in the largest slum outside of Nairobi.
